Holiday Open House & Market
9 AM to 2 PM
The Dudley Farm Farmers’ Market will hold its 17th annual Holiday Market on Saturday, December 1st, from 9 AM to 2 PM in the Munger Barn. Our holiday treats and treasures feature baked goods, art & crafts, eggs, fibers, fresh holiday greens & trees, honey & maple syrup, jams & jellies, naturally-raised meats, pickles and soap.

Weather permitting, Buster Scranton will present a Maple Candy Demonstration at 11 AM. Join Buster in the Munger Barn as he brings chemistry, physics, skill and a little luck together to turn maple syrup into pure maple candy. Watch the process, enjoy the aroma and sample the end product.

Visit the Museum between 10 AM and 2 PM for the Holiday Open House. Tour the Farmhouse decorated for the holidays, enjoy complementary mulled cider & cookies, visit with St. Nicholas and listen to holiday music played on the Bowed Psaltery.

Book Presentation: Voices from North Guilford
7 PM, Durham Public Library, Durham, CT
There will be a program about the book on Wednesday, November 14th at the Durham Public Library at 7 PM. A brief talk about how and why the book was written will be followed by reading of excerpts from the book. Enlarged photographs from the book will be on display and books will be available for sale after the program.

Annual Meeting/Potluck Dinner
6:30 PM
Please bring your own place setting and a main dish or dessert to share. Coffee, tea and cider provided. A brief business meeting and election of officers will follow the supper. Next, wildlife biologist and local resident Scott Williams will be our featured speaker. With bears, deer, turkeys, geese and invasive species in North Guilford, his talk will certainly be of interest.

Harvest Day
9 AM to 2 PM
Following a one year hiatus (remember the October snowstorm?), Harvest Day will return on October 20th. There will be family activities, fun for all, socializing and Hummel’s Hot Dogs! The Farmers’ Market will also be in place. Come sample farm life from a century ago.

Autumn at the Market
As the greens and haze of Summer fade and Autumn delights us with its harmony and luster, take time to watch the leaves turn. Join us at the Farmers’ Market between 9 AM and 12:30 PM every Saturday through October to savor the sights and smells of Autumn, while enjoying local and organic produce. This year we offer squash, root crops, pumpkins, potted mums and more. We also have honey, cut flowers, baked goods, jam and jelly, maple syrup, eggs, pickles, naturally-raised meats, and handmade art and crafts.
And come to the Farm on Saturday, October 20 from 9 AM to 2 PM for Harvest Day, as we join the Dudley Farm Museum in its celebration of the Harvest. Rain date is Saturday, October 27, which is also the last day of the Market.

CT Botanical Society
12 Noon
The CT Botanical Society will be exploring the trails at the Dudley Farm on Saturday, August 4th at 12 Noon. The leader is John Anderson from Aton Forest 860–542–5125. The CT Botanical Society wil have an informational table set up a the Farmers’ Market Saturday morning and the public is invited to participate in the program.

Food and Nutrition
Beth Scranton Payne, MS, RD, will speak about food and nutrition. Beth, a North Guilford native, has had a varied career, including consulting to health care facilities, running a private practice, and managing the food and nutrition services of a health care facility. She also co-authored articles for professional publications. Learn what the current dietary guidelines are, how you can improve your nutritional health, and how to cook that vegetable. There will be ample time for questions.

The Peace Corps: Making a Difference

   Beth Scranton Payne will speak about her recent experiences as a Peace Corps volunteer. Beth, a North Guilford native, spent more than 2 years serving in the West African nation, The Gambia. As a retired Registered Dietitian, she was assigned to the National Nutrition Agency, lived and worked with the Gambian people and participated in local family events, while helping to address the nutritional problems of this very poor and tiny country. Listen to her presentation and learn how the Peace Corps is making a difference.

Community Tag Sale
8:30 AM to 2 PM, Rain or Shine
Spaces are $20 and you will need to bring your own table and chairs.
Set-up on Saturday morning must be completed by 7:30 AM. Early set-up on Friday Evening is at 6 PM. Food & beverages, including coffee & baked goods will be available. Donations accepted for gently used items in good condition for the Dudley Farm Table—all proceeds from Farm table benefit The Dudley Farm Museum. A Cure for Winter Doldrums and Cabin Fever…
Julia Usher, North Guilford native returns to Guilford with her second book, Ultimate Cookies. Enjoy an afternoon at The Dudley Farm Museum learning cookie decorating techniques from the author. Tea will be served and will include a sampling of recipes from her books. Books will be available for separate purchase and signing by the author.
Seating is limited and reservations are required.
Admission is $5.00 per person.
