SUMMARY:Dudley Foundation Annual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Dudley Foundation Annual Meeting  \n  \nMembers are invited to gather for a pot luck lunch at our annual meeting in the yellow Munger Barn. Bring a dish and hear the latest news from the farm\, enjoy good food and share fellowship. This year’s guest speaker will be Emily Ciffone\, Program Director at New Pond Farm in Redding\, CT. \nTo renew your membership or to join contact: dudleyfarm.com/join. RSVP required. \nDudley Farm recently updated our Strategic Plan to establish goals for the next five to ten years. A key initiative is to expand our community outreach with school programs and camps focused on history and agricultural life in 19th century New England. We hope you will join us to hear Emily Ciffone share insights on the development and success of New Pond Farm Education Center. Board Members found much to be inspired by on a recent visit to New Pond Farm. \n  \nAbout New Pond Farm \n \n  \nMore than 50 years ago\, actress and environmentalist Carmen Mathews had a dream for the land she loved. She wanted her 102 acres of pastures\, woodlands\, and wetlands to serve as an oasis where people of all ages could connect with the natural world. Carmen began by inviting urban youth to a summer camp. Building on this initial small and personal summer program\, New Pond Farm Education Center opened its doors in 1985. Since then\, it has evolved into a comprehensive environmental teaching facility with a model working farm. It offers many school programs and classes for children\, teens\, adults\, and families.

SUMMARY:Storytelling Down On The Farm
DESCRIPTION:Come to the Barn for some old time storytelling with Carolyn Stearns and music by Joe Flood. Storytelling Down On The Farm is a free family event. Carolyn Stearns is the kind of storyteller who roamed New England towns 200 years ago. Her family tales of Revolutionary ships lost at sea\, the man who painted Lincoln and the ghost of New Haven will ignite your imagination and transport you to a time when oral storytelling and music were the only entertainments. \nWhen:  Sunday\, June 22\, 3-5 pm \nWhere: Big Barn \nRegister: Free Event\, but RSVP below so we know you’re coming \n \n                                                                                  (photo courtesy of Carolyn Stearns) \nCarolyn Stearns Bio \nStoryteller\, author\, public speaker and dairy farmer\, Carolyn brings to life the stories of New England’s past. She lives on a family dairy farm in Northeast Connecticut steeped in 11 generations of history—good fodder for her tales. Her stories enliven imaginations through the ancient art of performance storytelling. She is the author of “How Far Is Safe?” and the CD\, “George Henry Story—the Man Who Painted Lincoln.” \n  \n  \n \nJoe Flood Bio \nSongwriter and multi-instrumentalist Joe Flood has traveled a long musical road. He worked the streets of Paris with the Lost Wandering Blues and Jazz Band and written songs with The Band. He has released five albums under his own name and been featured prominently on several albums. His 2015 release\, “Songs From the Bend in the River” is a tribute to three 19th Century songwriters from Middletown\, Connecticut where Flood grew up. His latest album\, “All Roads Lead to the Blues\,” was released in October of 2021 and explores the connections of blues to Afro-Cuban\, gospel\, rock ’n’ roll\, and country music. He teaches at Baldwin Middle School. \n  \n
