The Dudley Farm Museum flock consists of Rhode Island Reds and Plymouth Rocks, both popular breeds of chickens in late nineteenth century New England. Historically they have been highly regarded as consistent producers of large brown eggs. A rooster is kept with the flock of hens and occasionally a batch of eggs is placed in an incubator to hatch new chicks. The chicks are raised at the farm and added to the flock.
